Fujikura has updated their popular Vista Pro line of woods, irons, and hybrids for 2021.
Fujikura has incorporated what they’ve learned from their top of the line Ventus VeloCore Technology with improved feel, smoother profile, and lighter models now available with improved stability.
The woods are available in 49/59/67/75 gram weights. L/A/R flex in 49g, A/R/S in 59g, and R/S flex in the 65g and 75 gram models. Priced at $95, these are install only. Add $40 for OEM sleeve install.
In more Fujikura news, last week Fuji won all three Tour events. Darren Clark won Champions Tour event, Woo Kim won on Men’s PGA event, and Jessica Korda won the Tour Diamond with a Ventus Blue shaft.
Dustin Johnson, Rory, Fleetwood, Kuchar and more have switched to the Ventus Black and I read that Justin Thomas switched to the slightly softer tipped, higher launch Ventus Red. The more forgiving profile of Ventus Red would be a great combination for those of us without 110mph + swing speeds. The Ventus Black is the lowest launch/spin and the Ventus Blue is in-between the Red and Black. Price is $350 plus OEM sleeve install. There are also Ventus Hybrids. Send me a note for help choosing and to order Fujikura shafts.
Mitsubishi MMT Irons
A good customer of mine reshafted his irons with the new MMT shafts and sent me a follow up:
The Mitsubishi MMT shafts are the real deal. I put them into a set of Ping i210’s. Great feel, tight dispersion. —T
Rickie Fowler switched to the MMT shafts. MMT stands for metal mesh technology. The metal mesh – made from individually braided strands of 304 Stainless Steel – is integrated into the shaft’s prepreg layers towards the tip. Price is $60 each and they’re available in L/A/R/S flex in both .370 parallel and .355 taper tip. Send me a note to order.
Alpha LoPro High Lofted Fairway Woods
Many golfers have a hard time getting the ball in the air from the fairway with a fairway wood. Topped shots lead my list of frustration on the course. Alpha Golf has a solution with their LoPro fairway wood line. It has a low profile for a very low center of gravity to help get the ball up and away. It also has a wider body style moving the center of gravity back, making it a very forgiving club. The head is available in #3+(13 degree loft), #3 (15), #5 (19), #7 (23), #9 (27), #11 (30), #13 (33), #15 (36 deg). For slower swing golfers I’d recommend going with a #5 wood and maybe a #7 wood. The 5 wood is much easier to hit vs. a 3 wood and you might find the added launch gives you even a little more distance than your 3 wood and also will be straighter. I use a #7 wood a lot to get out of trouble (which is a lot). A #7 wood is a great long iron replacement and I think they’re much easier to hit than a hybrid.
The Alpha LoPro is available as a component at $59 plus shipping and it includes a headcover. I’d be happy to build you a LoPro fairway wood with your choice of shafts. That new Fuji Vista Pro would be a great choice. Send me a note to discuss.
AutoFlex Shaft
I’ve been getting some interest in the hot new Korean shaft from Autoflex after Adam Scott switched to the super light/super flexible shaft that’s been burning up Youtube the past few months. Fast swinging golfers have been raving about the super light and whippy design. Many aren’t raving about the $790 price point. I can get the shaft if you’re intrigued. Send me a note to discuss.
Onuca Stepped Graphite Iron/Hybrid shaft
I wrote about the unique new stepped graphite iron shaft that I’m offering that has the best of the steel and graphite iron shaft world and beats both in the spec department. The Onuca Stepped graphite iron/hybrid shafts are 60 grams and 2.2 torque. The lightest steel shaft is mid to high 60 grams and about the same torque but steel that light has terrible feel and no shock absorption. There are other lightweight graphite shafts but anything close to that weight has a torque of high 4 to 6 degree.
Somehow the folks at Onuca have figured out how to add steps to a graphite shaft design. The steps allow them to offer various launch profiles. The first model has a high launch, making a great choice for an easier to hit hybrid or for those looking for help getting their iron launch up higher to land softer on the green. The 60 gram weight should help with swingspeed/distance and be helpful later on in the round when you’re starting to wear out. I’ve got about a dozen A (senior) flex in stock priced at $54 each. Nice matt black finish with red logo. Send me a note to order.
Krank Non-Conforming Driver
Online testimonials continue to build for the Krank F11 non-conforming drivers. The F11 is fitted by swingspeed. For 80 mph and slower swings with drives under 200 yards, the Super Hi-Cor is the choice for added distance. Conforming face CT (spring effect) is 257. The Super Hi-Cor has a CT of 370. It has a super thin, flexible face for added distance for slower swings (about 1/2 as thick as conforming heads). The non-conforming Formula11 X is designed for 80mph-low 90mph swings and has a CT of 330 (257 is conforming). Finally, for faster swings the F11 conforming model fits swing speeds mid 90mph and up. I can sell the head as a component or build you a driver with your choice of shafts. Send me a note to talk about this exciting driver design that will add back the yards you’ve lost over the years. In lofts 9, 10.5, 12, and 14 degree. Adjustable sleeve -1 to +2 degree.
Short Shots
I’ve added premium Japanese brand Fourteen Golf to my catalog. They have a beautiful new wedge series called the RM4. A lot of very creative design features, varying the thickness along the back blade wall. Thicker in the toe on lower lofts for help on mishits, thicker in the heel on the higher lofts for improved control and workability. Probably easiest to read about it here. I can get the heads as a component so I can build it with any shaft you like. Send me a note for pricing.
I’ve been in touch with Srixon/Cleveland golf to add their full line of clubs to my catalog. I’m excited about the new Srixon ZX irons, utility irons. I can get the components and build a set with any shaft you like.
Graphite Design has revamped their popular Tour AD DI Black wood graphics, giving them a fresh new look for 2021. The Tour AD is available in about any weight and shaft profile to fit any swing.
